Guide to betting the 2009 Kentucky Derby
If you have never bet on a horse race before what greater way is there to start than betting the 2009 Kentucky Derby, one of the greatest horse races in the world.
One of the simplest ways is to place a win bet; one ticket, one horse, one outcome. It may be a long shot and a lot of luck but will have the biggest payoff in the end. So if you are sure on a certain horse then take the plunge, and good luck.
Another simple way that gives you greater odds at winning is a bet to place. Of course you are splitting your ticket so the payoff isn’t as great but you are also giving yourself a greater chance at collecting. So if you aren’t quite sure your horse will definitely win you don’t have to worry if they come in second.
If you still aren’t really sure but think your horse may come in at least second or third, if not first then place a show bet. Again your payoff will be smaller than a win bet but still you’re chances will be even greater at collecting.
For the beginner these bets are probably your best option, once you get the hang of it then you can join the veteran gamblers in trickier wagering.
To begin with we have tickets such as;
Exacta: This requires the choosing of two horses that will finish first and second, in the exact order you think they will win.
Quinella: This ticket is very similar to an “exacta”, however you don’t need to pick your two winning horses in the order they finish, to receive a payoff.
Trifecta: With this ticket you must choose three horses in the exact order they will win, to receive a payoff.
Superfecta: This ticket involves selecting four horses in the exact order you think they will win.
These are trickier and are usually only attempted by more seasoned gamblers. But if you feel you would like to try this at the 2009 Kentucky Derby it’s probably best to do a little research on the contending horses to better understand their chances of winning and the order they will achieve.
